just in case

I was at a meeting this evening, and the topic of some service I'm doing in the Baha'i community came up. I am serving both on the nine member body that was meeting tonight and as a sort of facilitator of service opportunities in Minneapolis. The issue was that I'm the only person serving in this second role, whereas a few months ago there were three or four people serving as a committee. Concerns were shared about me being overwhelmed, and shortly after more concerns were shared about what can go wrong if I get hit by a bus. This went on for some time - a very serious discussion about the possibility that I may die. I was trying really hard not to laugh. I managed.

You know, I may have started reading this blog because of the Minneapolis and Baha'i connection, but it came as a surprise to me that you are from Minneapolis. I am moving back this year, maybe we will meet in the Baha'i community.

Also, are you on the LSA? Is that the nine member body? Your secrecy is intriguing :p

Hi Gerald! Yes, I am currently serving on the LSA. I suppose I just didn't want to burden people with all the jargon but maybe I made it even more complicated by not saying the names of the institutions. Where are you moving from and why are you returning to Minneapolis?

I live in a suburb of Boise, Idaho. I have about 8 adults in my community and 2 other youth. I come from Mineapolis, but I moved here about five years ago. When I graduate from High School this year I am moving back for school. I understand not using the Jargon. I saw the Minneapolis Bahá'í center often when I lived there, but I was not a Bahá'í, so I am excited to meet that community now that I am. (I have been for less than a year)

You might just be a Bahá'í if

..if you get more excited by LSA than LSD.
...if you overhear your friends discussing 'the ITC's new IPG with Ruhi to be an A-Cluster', and actually understand what they are talking about.

Well it's awesome that you'll be moving to Minneapolis soon. We just advanced to an A cluster, and we'll have had some experience with IPGs when you move here. You should consider coming over a break and getting to know some of the youth and young adults here. They're really active!
I'm interested to know how you became a Baha'i. I love those stories!
